Hi Stray,
Thanks for a great application - I loved Nanolive I and have just upgraded to Nanolive II. The changes in functionality make a lot of sense - I think its getting better and better.
I've been tempted creating my own tools with Bome's MIDI translator, but it's so nice when someone else has already done it for you
One thing I'm confused about (it's not clear from the manual) - is there supposed to be an OSD with Nanolive II? I don't have one, and it makes a big difference in the useability. I'm not sure if there is no OSD because it's not part of the program, or if it is because something is not working right on my system?
(I'm on XP)
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
No, there is no OSD in the new version. The reason is mainly because I have no way of doing OSDs of that sort on OS X…yet. Secondarily though, with the new Track Groups in Live 8, the OSD used in nanoLive isn’t accurate. Bank 1 isn’t always going to be Tracks 1 – 8, it depends on how things are grouped.
I do plan to work out a way to do OSDs, but they’ll need to be much more advanced than the one used in nanoLive and will take some time to figure out.
This version does include some visual cues though. The selected device is indicated by the blue hand. When switching between track banks, the first track in the bank gets selected. And the scene LEDs indicate which mode you’re in.
Thanks,
Stray

Thanks for your reply - that makes a lot of sense.
Still I find myself having the pdf file open to find out what the controller will be controlling (ie button assignment.)
As an intermediate solution, could you create an 'indicator' OSD with just that basic info? just something that says "pan/mute + solo", "send/select+arm" etc
I know it seems silly (I could stick a piece of paper to my monitor) but I use a lot of hardware and always forget when I return to using it after a while...
Thanks!

Sure, but it would still take some time to figure out how to accomplish that on both Windows and OS X. If you're looking for something more immediate, nanoLive II could be customized to do this now (on Windows only), but there would be an additional expense involved in that. Send me an email if you're interested in that.
Thanks,
