It isn’t currently possibly for an X-Clip to store a snapshot for more than one track and/or contain more than one snapshot. However, set-wide mixer snapshots should be within the realm of possibility, though I’m not sure that this could support devices (like the 1/snap action does). Would that suit your needs or do you require support for devices too? Let me know and I’ll try to get this addressed in the next update.
For me there's no need for device snapshots if I could have a total mix snapshot (most important to me are volume, pan and sends). It would be THE thing I was waiting for within live, and it would be very handy for my livesets!
No, it isn’t currently possible, but see my previous reply (two posts up) concerning this.
To update on that, a set-wide snapshot action will be added in the next version, but this will only handle volume, pan and sends for each track and return track. That should be ready within the next week.
Thats cool. I have been using the "Kapture" Max for Live device for that. It's super simple. However it would be nice to be Track Specific. For example I only want to take a snapshot of 5 tracks. I'm really just trying to make snapshots of my drum sounds and recall them via clips (drum sounds i.e. kicks, snares, hats, etc selecting samples with the chain selector). Although taking an entire snapshot of a live set is cool, It's more than I really need.
There will be several ways to do that with the new action that I’ll be adding. I’ll post more details on this when the new version is ready. If it still doesn’t suit your needs though, the source is provided and you’re free to modify it.
Great job, Stray! Florian Bomers changed my life with MIDI Translator Pro, now you are about to do it again with ClyphX.
Question: Can you think of a way to utilize ClyphX to import a recorded audio-clip from a track into Simpler/Sampler? I noticed that remote scripts allow access to functions that cannot normally be midi-/key-mapped (such as state-specific track-arming, loop-length control, etc). I've been looking for a long time for a way to have the kind-of micro-loop control over what I am recording as I do over imported samples with the Simpler controls in order to play them like a "loop synth" (similar to how Ean Golden is doing in this video with Traktor).
I understand that ClyphX does not currently have this functionality, but if it could conceivably do this, it would be a game changer for me, and an elegant one at that.
Welcome to the forum. This request wouldn’t be possible via Live’s API (you can see most of what the API can do here) unfortunately, but it’s sort of along the lines of something else I’m looking into related to manipulating data on the clipboard, which would allow for loading clips and devices (from the browser or directly from disk). If I can work that out, it could be possible to use it to load data into Simpler/Sampler.
It also might be possible to handle this with AppleScript or AutoHotKey and have ClyphX call the script (calling scripts is something else I’m looking into).
so i recently just got clyphx (aswell as macrobat + extraprefs) and i am sortof flabbergasted by how incredibly awesome it is.
now, about these snapshots (YEAH!), would it be possible to store mixer snapshots and drop them in as a clip, incase you want different mix templates cross-sets? because if it would then i would be in heaven.
Welcome to the forum. Yes, once you’ve stored a snapshot in an X-Clip, you can use that X-Clip in any set. It will only affect the track(s) that have the same name(s) as the track(s) stored in the snapshot.
So, for example, say you’re working in Set A and you take a snapshot of Track Z. You can now bring that X-Clip into any set and it will affect the track named Track Z.
that is awesome. ive been playing around with it yesterday and im so excited about this. i also took a look at the python files in the hopes of making a separate clyphx track named snapshotter that was JUST a snapshot track and nothing else, but i failed haha.
so, out of curiosity (and excitement, obviously) whats with this utiliscript beta then?
